The above video is a documentary about the making of Charlotte Hodes’ latest exhibition, Drawing Skirts: New Papercuts, University Gallery and Baring Wing, Northumbria University, Newcastle.
Charlotte Hodes’ exhibition was a series of figurative papercut silhouettes and motifs, based on the dressmaker’s paper patterns, reveals her combined technical and artistic skills to produce works of considerable scale and invention, using the scalpel blade as the equivalent of the fine line of a pencil. Charlotte Hodes is the winner of the Jerwood Drawing Prize and the Wallace Collection’s first Associate Artist. She is currently Senior Research Fellow in Drawing at the London College of Fashion.
