Each participant is asked to document the making of a new piece of work in relationship to the question of surface.

The documentation should include the following information as a word document supported by a max of 6 jpeg images (max 600 x 400 pixels).

Context

1. Brief outline of the artist’s practice
2. Brief explanation of working process
3. Relationship of digital technology to other processes/technologies
4. Indication of how they regard the surface in terms of importance
Word count max 500 words

Specific issues to the new piece of work

1. At what point in the development of the work is the size of the image fixed?
2. At what point is the actual surface considered?
3. What factors determine the choice or creation of the surface in this new work?
4. How does working digitally contrast with other practises they have used?
Word count max 500 words

Information on new piece of work

1. Title of finished artwork
2. Size in cms of finished artwork
3. Process
4. Material
5. Max 6 Jpegs (max 600 x 400 pixels) of stages of development of the artwork

The work will remain the copyright of the artist. Images reproduced on the project website will be low res.

When we have received the documentation we will arrange, if needed, to conduct an interview to be added to the website and provide further research material.
